COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A man who entered no contest pleas to charges of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder and domestic violence was sent to the Michigan Department of Corrections on Monday in Branch County Circuit Court.
31-year-old Aaron Ray Allen was ordered to serve between 18 months and 10 years on the assault count with credit for 176 days already served.
He received a concurrent 93 day time already served jail sentence on the domestic violence charge.
In exchange for his pleas, a charge of malicious destruction of personal property as well as a habitual offender sentencing enhancer were dismissed by prosecutors as part of the plea agreement which was filed on February 27.
A three day jury trial was originally scheduled to start on March 21.
Branch County court records indicate the crimes took place on September 21, 2022.
