COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Organizers for Branch Pride says they are close to opening a new low barrier men’s homeless shelter.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services has gifted them 17 beds and a nurses’ station.
According to a fund raising newsletter that is being sent out, it was stated that the number of homeless individuals in Branch County has increased over the last couple of years. More homeless persons are being seen in parks and neighborhoods.
It’s hoped $175,000 can be raised to pay for ownership of the building and the start up costs.
Branch Pride is a 100 percent volunteer program that will keep overhead low in order to be a successful program.
Also being accepted are donations of clothing, blankets, canned food and money.
Checks can be sent to the Rainbow House at 42 West Chicago, Coldwater, 49036.
