Evelyn E. Van Hoosear, 84, of Quincy, passed away Monday, April 10, 2023, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born September 12, 1938, in Hamler, OH to Earl and Luella (Bauer) Walter. She married the love of her life, Elwin Van Hoosear on June 17, 1956, and he preceded her in death on February 6, 2020.
Evelyn graduated from North Adams High School, Class of 1956. Evelyn was the wife of a farmer, and graciously took on the responsibilities that came with it. She had the amazing gift of hospitality and was known for opening her home on Sunday nights after church, where you could count on her for her famous sloppy joes, and brownies and ice cream. She loved her grandchildren and greats so much and they are all her “Fave”! She crocheted blankets for them and many others. She sold Home Interiors for years and was a huge Michigan Wolverine fan.
Evelyn loved her Lord and Savior more than anything and attended the East Algansee Baptist Church for years. She also attended The Remedy.
Survivors include her children, Gene (Sheri) Van Hoosear of Maumee, OH, Eileen (Gordon) Stroble of Quincy, Susan (Rick) Koster of Byron Center and Paul (Kelly) Van Hoosear of Reading; 11 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and one great great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Clara Wolfcale; nephews David Wolfcale and Jed Van Hoosear; niece Donna Wolfcale; and Great-Granddaughter, Sunny Wren Hoeflinger.
Funeral services for Evelyn Van Hoosear will be held Friday, April 14, 2023, at 11:00 AM at the Eagle funeral Home-George White Chapel in Quincy with Dr. Bradley Belcher officiating. Burial will follow at Fisher Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday from 5-7 PM at the funeral home, and again Friday from 10:30 until the time of service.
