COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners approved a request from Register of Deeds Nyci DeLoach on Tuesday to install a customer service window at the entrance to her office.
DeLoach said this would make the office more secure and allow the staff to monitor who would be entering the inner offices, since there is no security at the Annex.
The cost for materials and labor to install the window is just over $3,800. The funds are already in the Register’s budget.
In other business, the Commissioners approved the purchase of two used vehicles by the Juvenile Court that is being made possible by the State of Michigan’s Raise the Age Grant Program.
Probate Court Attorney and Referee Wendy Gensch said during last Thursday’s work session the court has been approved by the state to expend $45,000 for the vehicles.
They plan to purchase a caged transport vehicle to be used by the caseworkers and a transport van for the Day Treatment program.
Gensch said last week none of the money has been spent yet. Under the grant, the County must expend the funds and then a claim must be submitted for reimbursement.
The Commissioners also approved a one year contract at a cost of over $37,000 with Quality Assessing Services out of Spring Arbor to handle appraisal studies. The previous company that was used is no longer available to provide services.
