HILLSDALE, MI (WTVB) – A Branch County man has entered guilty pleas to four counts of third degree criminal sexual conduct as a third time habitual offender in Hillsdale County.
According to on line court records, 52-year-old Daniel Lewis Remsing entered into a plea agreement with prosecutors on Monday during what was supposed to have been a pre-trial conference.
Remsing is looking at a prison sentence of at least 15 years when he is sentenced on June 5.
In exchange for his pleas to the crimes which started in April of 2015 and lasted for nearly two years, prosecutors will dismiss six counts of first degree criminal sexual conduct covering two cases.
Bond during his arraignment was set at $800,000.
Remsing’s name came up in a separate case involving a Lowell woman who was charged last month with alleged sex crimes involving a three-year-old child she was caring for.
Lowell Police were assisted by Hillsdale Police and the Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Department during the investigation into alleged crimes that took place in November while 43-year-old Heather Wallace was video chatting with Remsing who she had met on a dating app.
WZZM-TV reports Wallace contacted Hillsdale Police about Remsing after he allegedly asked her to take pictures of the child and then sexually assault her.
The report indicates that at first, she told investigators she did not comply with the request but later changed her story when she was questioned by police about the video and photographic evidence.
