QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – The Quincy Orioles girls softball team took out their frustrations from some early season struggles on Wednesday night on the Homer Trojans as they swept the Trojans in a Big 8 Conference doubleheader by scores of 18-6 and 14-3.
Danika Skirka was the winning pitcher in the first game as she allowed eight hits and struck out four. Quincy took advantage of 12 walks. They also managed to outhit the Trojans 11-8.
Quincy’s Payton Gross went 4-for-4 with two doubles while Mckynna Connin singled and tripled.
Skirka was also the winning pitcher in the second game as she allowed four hits and struck out six.
Quincy again outhit the Trojans 9-4 in the second game. Connin went 3-for-3 with two doubles and a triple. Gross added a single and double. Kailey Allman and Kaylee Modert added a double each.
The Orioles are now 5-8 overall and 3-1 in the Big 8 Conference.
