QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – It was a frustrating night for the Quincy Orioles baseball team on Wednesday as they were shut out in both ends of a doubleheader against Homer.
The Trojans swept the Big 8 Conference doubleheader by scores of 2-0 and 6-0.
Quincy’s Brady Mescher pitched five strong innings for the Orioles in the first game as he allowed only four hits. But the Trojans scored two unearned in the second inning after two outs which proved to be the difference.
Brennan Allman finished the game on the mound throwing two shut-out innings. Mescher had two of the four hits for Quincy.
Riley Miner left the game with a leg injury during his first at bat.
Homer took advantage of four Quincy errors in the fifth inning of the second game which resulted in three runs and a 4-0 Trojans lead.
The Orioles had just two hits and were quiet on the base paths. Draven Baker recorded his first varsity hit and Mickey Connin added a single.
Quincy is now 6-3 overall and 2-2 in Big 8 Conference play. They return to action next Tuesday with a double header at Concord.
