BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The merry month of May is just a few days away but sub freezing temperatures remain in the forecast. Branch County is included in a Freeze Warning that has been issued by the National Weather Service from midnight through 8am Monday morning for portions of northern Indiana, southwest Michigan and northwest Ohio.
Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 28 degrees are expected. Areas closer to Lake Michigan may see slightly warmer
temperatures.
Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor
plumbing.
Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
