COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Community School Board of Education is scheduled to approve a Superintendent Employment Contract for Paul Flynn during their monthly meeting on Monday night.
The Board voted unanimously on March 16 to offer the Superintendents position to Flynn who has served as the Superintendent of Schools in Sandusky, Michigan since 2017.
After a controversy erupted in the last year over the changing of the school logo from Redskins to Wolves, the school board in Sandusky voted in February not to renew Flynn’s contract.
A group of citizens also sought to recall three school board members who voted in favor of the logo change.
Before he served as Sandusky’s Superintendent, Flynn previously was a principal at Yale High School for seven years.
He also served as a high school assistant principal for nine years and was a high school teacher for eight years.
Flynn holds an Educational Specialist’s Degree in Central Office Administration/Superintendent from Saginaw Valley State University, a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Central Michigan University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in English and Speech from Michigan State University.
He is expected to begin his new duties as Coldwater School Superintendent on July 1, 2023.
There were 11 candidates for the position which became open when current Superintendent Terry Ann Whelan announced she would be retiring as of June 30, 2023.
