COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Aside from Coldwater Mayor Tom Kramer and four members of the City Council who are up for election in 2023, no one else filed to run in this year’s city elections before Tuesday’s 4:00 p.m. deadline thus there will be no primary in August.
Kramer along with City Council members Scott Houtz in the fourth ward, John Petzko in the third ward, Chad Johnson in ward two and Emily Rissman in the first ward have all filed their candidacies at the Clerk’s Office.
Those who want to run as a write in candidate can still do so. The filing deadline is October 27.
Kramer has been Mayor since 2011. Houtz has been on the Council since 2016, Petzko has served since 2018, Johnson since 2020 and Rissman since 2019.
Coldwater city elections are held every odd year at which time four members of Council are elected for a four-year term and the Mayor for a two-year term. These are non-partisan positions.
