LANSING, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Commissioners Randall Hazelbaker and Tom Matthew were honored this week as graduate members of this year’s Michigan Association of County Commissioner Academy.
Hazelbaker and Matthew were among 44 county commissioners from across Michigan to be honored on Tuesday in Lansing.
Hazelbaker and Matthew were presented with a certificate of their accomplishment by Michigan Association of Counties Board President Stan Ponstein of Kent County during a session of the 2023 Michigan Counties Legislative Conference.
County Commissioner Academy was started by the association in 2019 as a professional development program for commissioners.
Commissioners earn “credits” by participating in M.A.C. conferences, webinars and other special briefings by such partners as Michigan State University Extension and the Michigan Department of Treasury.
Hazlebaker is the Mayor Pro Tem in the City of Coldwater.
Matthew serves on two M.A.C. policy committees and is member of the Michigan Local Public Health Accreditation Commission.
