QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – It turned into a busy Sunday afternoon for Quincy firefighters.
While they were at the scene of a fatal car crash on Jonesville Road near Quincy Grange Roads, they were sent to 241 South Stringtown Road just before 3:00 p.m. for a barn fire.
Quincy Fire Chief Mike Sherman says the old 30 x 50 heavy timber barn was fully involved upon their arrival. He reports the building was full of hay which made for a lengthy fire fight.
Crews were on scene for about three hours. Sherman said there was no animals or equipment in the building.
Firefighters managed to keep the flames away from several nearby buildings. Sherman reports the cause of the fire is undetermined and is not considered suspicious in nature.
Mutual aid was received from the Lakeland and Fremont fire departments for water supply.
