COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A survey is being conducted through May 21 in order to assess the workforce training needs of Branch County Manufacturers.
The Branch County Economic Growth Alliance has partnered with local organizations, employers, and municipalities to conduct the survey which will consist of 17 questions for employers.
According to a news release issued by the city on Monday, the organizing committee will utilize the results of the survey once its over to determine the best strategies to improve the availability of regional trainings and resources, with the intention to improve recruitment and retention rates in the county.

The news release stated survey questions seek information on the types of certifications, educational attainment, and soft skills that employers need, the barriers that prevent employers and their staff from accessing training, and other topics.
Branch County Economic Growth Alliance Director Lisa Miller says, “Understanding the needs of local manufacturers will help us build bridges between employers and job-seekers. The number of partners we have working together on this project is a testament to how important is it to proactively support our local economy and ensure that in-demand skill sets are accessible on both sides of the talent equation.
Officials say individual responses will be held in confidence among the organizing committee and that any data shared outside of the committee will be reported only as an aggregate.
It will be used to help identify opportunities for improving in-demand skill sets.
