BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater’s varsity boys golf team traveled to the Cedar Creek Golf Course in Battle Creek on Monday to play in the Lakeview Invitational and came away with a 15th place finish out of 17 schools.
Gull Lake won the event with an outstanding score of 297 while Coldwater shot a team score of 385.
Coldwater was led by Talan Eberts who shot a career best of 78.
He was followed by Parkyr Jones with a 94, Blaike Kelley had a 97, Rayce Johnson shot a 106, and Sal Barone rounded out Coldwater’s scoring with a 114.
Also in boys golf, Hillsdale Academy boys golf remains undefeated in SCAA league play after winning Monday at Cedar Lake Golf Course in Howe, Indiana. Five Colts finished in the top 10 for scoring during the match: Junior Rykert Frisinger of Coldwater finished 1st with a 38. Sophomore Kahle Welden and senior Conner Welden shared 3rd place with 44’s. Junior Ridley Fast finished tied for 5th with a 46, and 8th grader Lincoln Knirk of Quincy tied for 10th place shooting a 48.
As a team, the Colts shot a 172, defeating host Colon who finished 2nd with a 200. Climax-Scotts took 3rd with a 201. Will Carleton Academy, Jackson Christian, and Lenawee Christian rounded out the field with a 213, 215, and a 233 respectively.
The Colts are back in action on Friday when they host the John Matthew Krutsch Memorial Tournament at The Medalist in Marshall, Michigan.
