UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – The Village of Union City will be performing hydrant flushing starting this Monday, May 15.
The flushing is expected to continue throughout the week until Friday.
Union City residents are being advised that brown water can be expected. If brown water occurs, let the water run until clear and check the water before using it.
Flushing is done routinely to “clean” out the water mains from iron deposits that collect from the water through normal use.
Brown water indicates the presence of iron and is not harmful, but can cause staining or other annoyances.
Contact the Village Office during normal business hours at (517) 741-8591 with any questions.
