Branch County 9-1-1 dispatch records show the State Police, Bronson Police, the Bronson Fire Department and Life Care Ambulance were initially dispatched to the cemetery’s location at 375 Orland Road for a personal injury accident at 2:15 a.m. Saturday morning.
Pictures posted on social media platforms show about two dozen grave markers were either knocked down or destroyed. Some grave ornaments were smashed to bits.
They also showed a series of tire tracks from the vehicle.
State Police have not released details since the incident is still being investigated but there has been some social media chatter that the driver of the vehicle had a medical situation.
The cemetery, which was established well over a century ago, does not have a fence by Orland Road. It is operated by St. Mary’s Assumption Church in Bronson.
