James D. Zeiter, 86, of Coldwater, passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at his home. He was born January 23, 1937, in Hillsdale to Raymond and Edna (Pinckley) Zeiter. He married Mary L. Burnham on June 1, 1958, and she survives.
Jim graduated from Hillsdale High School and earned his associate degree from Jackson Community College. He worked as an electrician for Clark Equipment for over 30 years. After retiring, he was employed at Legg Lumber for another 10 years. He was a skilled woodworker and was known as a jack of all trades. Jim enjoyed camping and traveling but most of all, he was a family man who loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Jim served his country in the US Army.
Surviving besides his wife, Mary are four children, Dennis Zeiter of Coldwater, Christie (Steve) Iler of Sussex, WI, Michelle (Darrel) Powell of Fort Pierce, FL and Marcia (Greg) Eppel of Coldwater; grandchildren, Brandon (Shannon), Zachary (Stephanie), Alexi (Jacob), Nathaniel (Hanna), Jessica,
Evelyn (Chuck) and Laura (Donovan); and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Maria Louise Zeiter; grandson, Joshua Eppel; and siblings, Raymond “Junior” Zeiter, Leland “Red” Zeiter, Margie French, Betty Hilton, Shirley Reiley and Erwin “Zeke” Zeiter.
Funeral services for James Zeiter will be Monday, May 22, 2023, at 11:00 AM at the Eagle Funeral HomeGeorge White Chapel in Quincy with Pastor Shayne Looper officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Mason Cemetery in Coldwater. The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday from 2-4
PM at the funeral home.
