CLINTON, MI (WTVB) – The Quincy Orioles baseball team had a tough Saturday as they were swept in a non-conference doubleheader by the Clinton Red Wolves 8-3 and 12-2.
Clinton came into the games with a 24-2 record and they were the third ranked team in the state in Division 3.
Quincy jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first game and led through the fourth inning before the Red Wolves scored eight unanswered runs.
The Orioles managed just three hits as Ryan Kempter, Brady Mescher and Mickey Connin collected singles.
The Orioles grabbed a 2-0 lead in the nightcap before Clinton scored 12 unanswered runs. Mescher and Connin both had two hits.
The Orioles begin the final week of the regular season with a busy schedule on the road Tuesday to complete conference play at Union City.
They return to Quincy on Thursday to face Barry County Christian in non league action and then head to Jackson on Saturday to close out the regular season at Lumen Christi.
