MARSHALL, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinals were swept by the Marshall Red Hawks in a Interstate 8 baseball doubleheader on Monday.
The Red Hawks came from behind in both games to defeat the Cardinals 4-2 and 5-4.
Coldwater took a 2-0 lead in the opener thanks to a two run single in the top of the fifth inning by Brady Massey. But Marshall responded with three runs in their half of the fifth and added an insurance run in the sixth.
Besides Massey’s two run single, Cole Heinemann had a triple for the Cards in game one.
The nightcap was a back-and-forth affair before the Red Hawks scored the winning run in the last of the seventh.
Tyson Roby and Heinemann each had two singles and an RBI. The other RBI’s came from Ethan Parker and Ian Stough.
Coldwater’s record dropped to 14-19 overall and 6-6 in the Interstate 8.
