COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Community School Board of Education approved a nearly $3 million contract on Monday night with Dynamic Energy Services doing business as Veregy LLC in order to make Coldwater High School more energy efficient.
According to the company’s web site, Veregy’s home office is in Phoenix and they are a industry leader in energy efficiency solutions, solar and smart building technology.
Their clients include schools, government buildings, health care and manufacturing facilities.
Doctor Jeff Studebaker from Veregy met with the Board’s Budget and Finance Committee last Tuesday and presented them with a proposal to do mechanical upgrades at the high school that would replace the old outdated boilers with new energy-efficient boilers.
The old pneumatic controls would be replaced with DDC controls on all central heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment.
During a discussion, a request was also made to update all T-8 and T-12 lighting tubes with LED’s which would include the replacement of the current hanging egg crate fixtures with new suspended LED lighting fixtures.
The contract with Veregy calls for boiler replacements and controls at a total of just under two-point-five million dollars.
It was also decided to proceed with the LED lighting retrofit, fixtures and automated controls for $580,000.
The money for the work would come from the Sinking Fund and the General Fund.
