COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In the last athletic contests between Coldwater and Jackson Lumen Christi as Interstate 8 foes, the Titans swept a baseball doubleheader from the Cardinals at Lowe Field on Tuesday night.
Lumen Christi won by scores of 5-2 and 14-11 as they had to hold a furious Coldwater rally in the second game.
Cam Heinemann drove in both of the Cardinal runs in the first game with a double.
Coldwater was trailing 13-3 in the fifth inning of the second game when they got back into the contest with a six run outburst.
They added another run in the sixth to cut the Lumen Christi lead to 13-10.
The Titans scored a run in the top of the seventh but the Cardinals kept the pressure on in the last of the seventh. Coldwater cut the lead back down to three runs and had the tying run in the on deck circle when the game ended.
Tyson Roby had two doubles in the second game while Drake Thornton scored three runs and Tre Miller had three RBI’s.
Coldwater finished 6-8 in the Interstate 8. They are 14-20 overall.
