COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A committee that will be look into bringing back 24 hour road patrols from the Branch County Sheriff’s Office is getting ready to go to work.
The committee will include Sheriff John Pollack along with County Commissioners Tim Stoll and Allen McClellan.
Stoll, who is the Commission Chair, said during Tuesday’s Board of Commissioners meeting he did not want to extend the number of committee members from what was previously agreed to.
Stoll is hoping the first committee meeting can take place within the next couple of weeks.
Administrator Bud Norman gave a presentation during last Thursday’s Commissioner work session in regards to having 24 hour road patrol.
He said the requested six additional deputies would cost the county about $800,000 for the first year, about $4-point-1 million over five years and $9-point-6 million over ten years.
In addition to personnel, the costs would be for such additional items as equipment, uniforms, pension and insurance.
