CONCORD, MI (WTVB) – The Union City Chargers won the boys meet at the Big 8 Conference track and field meet on Wednesday. With Concord finishing third in the meet standing, the Chargers and Yellow Jackets shared the conference title for the season.
The Chargers finished first with 109 points followed by Jonesville with 100 1/2 and Concord with 92. Quincy finished fifth while Bronson was seventh.
Union City’s Jason Shoop won the 3200 while Alex Hull won the pole vault and Logan Cole was first in the discus. The team of Riley Laird, Caden Hughes, Hunter Sinke and Hull won the 800 relay.
Bronson’s Hugo Barajas, Kamern Bracket, Aden Hathaway and Boston Bucklin won the 3200 relay.
Homer won the girls meet and wrapped up the season championship. The Trojans finished first with 142 points. Quincy was second with 103 points followed by Union City in third place with 97 points. Bronson finished sixth.
Union City’s Skylar Fraley won the 3200, Nevada Gillons was first in the 100 hurdles and Adalynn Rumsey won the long jump.
The Chargers also captured a pair of relay titles. The team of Gillons, Rumsey, Addison Meyer and Mackenzie Hale won the 400 relay while Fraley, Lilly Eyre, Elizabeth Arlt and Kyla Burdick won the 3200 relay.
Quincy’s Sophia Snellenberger won two championships as she was first in both the shot put and discus.
Bronson’s Jaiden Hayes was first in the 300 hurdles.
