COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A couple of Coldwater B.P.U. requests were approved by the Coldwater City Council during their meeting on Monday night.
The Council gave final approval to a lease agreement with American Municipal Power to install a Behind-The-Meter diesel generation unit at the Bennett Street substation.
B.P.U. Director Paul Jakubczak said the agreement will help keep the lights on in an emergency situation.
The Council also approved a B.P.U. request to charge electric vehicle owners who use their four charging stations on the southwest side of the Four Corners Park and on West Chicago.
EV owners will be charged $2 per hour for the first four hours and $4 per hour for each additional hour thereafter.
Electric Vehicle owners would have to download an app which will take and process payments. The Public Electric Vehicle Charging rate takes effect July 1, 2023. The CBPU Board of Directors approved this new PEVC rate at its May 3, 2023 meeting.
