JACKSON, MI (WTVB) – The Quincy Orioles baseball team concluded their regular season by dropping both ends of a Saturday doubleheader to state ranked Jackson Lumen Christi by scores of 3-2 and 9-1.
After Lumen Christi took a 2-0 lead in the opener, Quincy came back with a run in the third inning on a Ryan Kempter bunt which scored Dreyden Feltner and the tying run in the sixth inning as Mickey Connin smacked a double to left field, allowing Grant Holroyd to score.
Lumen Christi got out of a bases loaded jam in the top of the seventh and then won the game in the bottom part of the inning thanks to a walk and two Quincy errors.
Brady Mescher took the tough loss on the mound as he went six plus innings and struck out six while allowing three hits. All of the Lumen Christi runs were unearned.
Connin had a single and a double with an RBI; Feltner and Kempter both had two singles while Kempter drove in a run.
Game two of the twin bill saw Lumen Christi race out to an early lead they would never look back from. Draven Baker led the Quincy offense with a double while Jimmy Maynard and Ryan Kempter both added singles.
The Orioles’ record now stands at 18-10. They will see action again Saturday when they head to Hanover Horton for the Division Three District tournament.
