BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Branch County residents honored military members who gave the ultimate sacrifice on Monday as numerous events were held on Memorial Day.
Coldwater’s Memorial Day ceremony was held in the newly renovated Four Corners Park in front of a large gathering on a sun splashed morning.
Joe Renshaw, who organized the Coldwater events, noted the new layout.
State Senator Jonathan Lindsey said those in a leadership position must care about the lives of military members.
State Representative Andrew Fink said Memorial Day is a day we give thanks to those who died for their country.
The ceremony was followed by a parade which included the Coldwater High School band, veterans and numerous service organizations.
Following the parade, those lost at sea were honored when a wreath was thrown into the Coldwater River.
The days events concluded with ceremonies at the Oak Grove Cemetery including one at the “Gathering of Flags War Memorial”.
The Bronson American Legion Post held a Memorial Day ceremony at the Bronson City Cemetery.
The Village of Union City and the Union City Chamber of Commerce once again hosted the annual Union City Memorial Day Parade and Cemetery Service. A service at Riverside Cemetery followed the parade.
The Quincy American Legion also hosted a parade on Monday. The parade was followed by a ceremony at the Quincy Cemetery.
