BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The Quincy Orioles have advanced to the M.H.S.A.A. Division Three girls soccer district championship game at Brooklyn Columbia Central thanks to a 6-1 victory over Michigan Center in the semi-finals on Wednesday night.
Quincy snapped a scoreless tie by scoring twice in the final 10 minutes of the first half to take a 2-0 lead.
The Orioles put the match away with four goals in the second half. Kalie Glei had the hat trick while Sami Hollenbaugh had two goals. Kaitlin Galinis scored the other Quincy goal.
Quincy’s defense limited Michigan Center to two shots on goal.
Quincy will play in the district finals game against Brooklyn Columbia Central Saturday morning. The start time has been changed. The match will now kick off at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Gull Lake defeated Marshall 2-1 and Harper Creek blanked Vicksburg 1-0 in the semifinals of the M.H.S.A.A. Division Two girls soccer district tournament at Coldwater on Wednesday night.
Gull Lake will play Harper Creek in the district championship match Friday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.. The start time was moved back from the original schedule of 6:00 p.m. because Harper Creek has graduation ceremonies on Friday night.
