BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The MHSAA Lower Peninsula Track and Field Finals are set for Saturday with Branch County being represented by 19 athletes.
At the Division 2 Lower Peninsula Girls Final at Forest Hills Eastern, Coldwater will be represented by Elli Foley, Grace Huff and Lainey Yearling. Foley won the regional in the shot put, Huff was first in the 800 during the regional meet while Yearling was second in the 3200.
Bronson, Union City and Quincy athletes will compete in the Division 3 Lower Peninsula Final at Kent City.
Quincy will be represented by Sophia Snellenberger, Raigen Horsfall, Brooke McVicker and Corey Turner. Snellenberger was a double winner at the regional meet in the shot put and discus while Horsfall was second in the discus, McVicker second in the girls pole vault and Turner was second in the boys pole vault.
Competing for Union City will be Alex Hull, Riley Laird, Caden Hughes, Hunter Sinke, Logan Cole, Skyler Fraley, Nevada Gillons and Adalynn Rumsey. Hull won the boys pole vault at regionals and anchored the second-place 4x200m relay team that included Laird, Hughes and Sinke. Cole was second in both the shot put and discus. Fraley was second in the 1600, Gillons second in the 100 hurdles and Rumsey qualified in the long jump.
Bronson will be represented by Boston Bucklin who qualified with his second place finish in the 800 at the regional meet.
Tekonsha will be represented by Kyle Redd in the boys 100, Wyatt Blashfield in the boys shot put and Dani VanLente in the girls 3200 at the Division 4 Lower Peninsula Finals at Hudsonville,.
