COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Prosecutor Zach Stempien announced on Friday that a Quincy man who was recently charged with numerous sex crimes has been found deceased.
45-year-old Henry Todd Hoath was formally charged with three counts of second degree criminal sexual conduct in which the alleged victim is under the age of 13 during a District Court arraignment on May 20.
Four other charges were filed by prosecutors as well as a second offense habitual offender sentencing enhancer.
Stempien says Hoath posted a $100,000 bond on May 25 with a probable cause conference scheduled for District Court on Thursday.
But Stempien said in a news release issued by his office that the Defendant failed to appear for his scheduled court date. Prosecutors requested an immediate bench warrant which was granted by the District Court.
The prosecutors office then presented information that Hoath was a potential risk to himself and others, prompting immediate efforts to locate him by law enforcement agencies.
There was an extensive search for Hoath but he was eventually found deceased in an abandoned building.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Department, 911 Dispatch, and the Michigan State Police were involved in the search.
