COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – While it wasn’t a record number, 2,824 yellow plastic ducks went into the water Saturday for the 30th Annual Coldwater Exchange Club Duck Race at Waterworks Park in Coldwater.
Money raised by the sale of the $5.00 ducks and dozens of other sponsorships will benefit Coldwater ProMedica Hospice, the Branch County Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Abuse Child Advocacy Center, and other community projects supported by the Coldwater Noon Exchange Club.
The first duck across the finish line on Sauk River Saturday was “adopted” by Kim Mueller of Coldwater, with a prize of $2,023 cash donated by Dutcher Funeral Home. The second place prize of a half ounce 24 karat gold bullion coin donated by Union Pallet and Container went to Bob Swift of Bronson, with Marcy Holland of Coldwater winning the third place prize of $750 cash donated by Case Realty Group.
A total 24 prizes were awarded.
