COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Class of 2023 at Coldwater High School was celebrated on Sunday during Commencement ceremonies at Cardinal Field.
There were 238 graduates in this year’s class. The Valedictorian was Ethan Woodcox while the Salutatorian was Ilsa Katz.
Woodcox promised his classmates he would keep his speech short because of the heat.
Jillian Hawver was named the winner of the John Vance Award. The award is named after the 1975 Coldwater High School graduate who was an athlete, student leader and honor student. Vance died from cancer in 1982.
It was the final graduation ceremony for Principal Bill Milnes and Superintendent Terry Ann Whelan.
Whelan’s retirement was acknowledged by C.C.S. School Board President Doctor Ed Lake.
Senior Julia Kirk thanked Milnes.
Milnes is an avid golfer and many seniors gave him a golf ball as they walked off the stage.
