Charles F. Outlaw, 81, of Sherwood, passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital.
A memorial service will be held Monday, June 12, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Coldwater United Methodist Church with Pastor Scott Marsh officiating.
Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church. Military Honors will be provided by the Coldwater American Legion Post #52 Drill Team.
Interment will be at Matteson Cemetery in Bronson on Monday, June 12, 2023 at 1:30 p.m.
Arrangements are being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home.
Charles was born November 14, 1941, to William Edgar and Bonnie (Gibson) Outlaw in Watson, Arkansas. He graduated from Sacramento State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration. He served with the US Air Force in Vietnam during the Vietnam War and continued his career in the Air Force with assignments in Germany and California.
Following his discharge from the military, Charlie worked as a Logistics Manager at Wright Patterson AFB, Ohio. Charlie married Julie Fair on January 1, 1986, in Fairborn, Ohio.
Charlie retired at WPAFB, Ohio in 1996 and followed a dream to go on the road driving an 18-wheeler. In 2001, he moved to Michigan and worked part time at St. Mary’s Assumption Church in Bronson.
Charlie was a member of the Coldwater United Methodist Church where he served as a trustee and administrative board chairman. He participated in many activities such as traveling to Mississippi for hurricane Katrina relief, gleaning food for the food bank, helping build ramps for senior citizens, and many other projects.
He was an outdoorsman who loved using his tractor to work around the yard and garden, especially growing tomatoes. He enjoyed deer hunting and was a carpenter and woodworker. He loved to catch, cook and eat catfish.
Charlie is survived by his wife Julie; his children Angela Outlaw of Norman, OK, Dan (Melissa) Outlaw of Claremore, OK; his siblings William Edgar Jr. (Kathy) Outlaw of Overland Park, KS, Benjie (Pat) Outlaw of St. Peters, MO, Betty Gatlin of Benton, AR; his grandchildren Conner (Fiorella) Outlaw, Mikayla (Austin) Colby, Matthew (Lisa) Outlaw, Joshua (Lynse) Outlaw, Ava Outlaw, Korbin Outlaw; his former wife Bonnie Outlaw of Norman, Ok; 2 great grandchildren and many nieces , nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Milton Outlaw, Thomas Outlaw and a baby sister Elizabeth who died in infancy.
Memorials may be directed to the Coldwater United Methodist Church or the Boy Scouts of America.
