COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners are scheduled to take formal action next Tuesday on a request from Juvenile Court Administrator Wendy Gensch to use grant money to renovate the Day Treatment building on Orleans Avenue.
Gensch told Commissioners during their work session last Thursday that she was working on getting quotes as she would like to establish up to four beds to house short term juveniles when calls are received to remove them from their home.
Gensch is requesting about $10,800 to be used for the purchase and installation of hard-wired security cameras and a network recorder at the building.
The money is available through a Raise the Age grant. Branch County would pay the money up front and then would be reimbursed 100 percent through the grant.
The total grant of $295,000 must be used by the end of September. Some of the money has already been used by the Juvenile Court to purchase a vehicle.
