COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater B.P.U. Board of Directors approved a resolution Wednesday night which authorizes the execution of a Power Sales Contract with American Municipal Power.
AMP is the acting General Manager of the Michigan South Central Power Agency.
CBPU Engineering Manager Andrew Cameron said they were recommending three items in relation to the AMP Michigan Caterpillar Peaking Project.
Coldwater will be housing 7.5 megawatts of capacity for this project at the Michigan Avenue substation.
Cameron said in his memo to the board that the Michigan CAT Peaking Project will not only provide additional capacity and energy resources, but will also be able to be dispatched during peak times on the bulk electric system throughout the year to reduce related power supply costs. The generation units would also be able to back feed the Michigan Avenue substation during a prolonged outage.
The City Council would have to give final approval since the agreement involves a real estate transaction.
Since it involves real estate, the CBPU board took formal action after holding a closed session.
