BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – Led by Coach Rolla Frisinger, Hillsdale Academy Golf capped off a successful season with a runner-up finish at the MHSAA Division 4 State Meet at Bedford Valley Golf Course on Friday and Saturday with a team-total 642 over the two-day event. Champion Everest Collegiate finished with a 625.
The Colts ended the first day in second place and then held that position all through Saturday, holding off a charge by third-place finisher Glen Lake by 8 strokes.
The Colts were led by the junior duo of Coldwater’s Rykert Frisinger and Ridley Fast of Hillsdale. Frisinger carded a two-day total of 150, tying for third overall individually, while Fast took fifth place with a 152.
Other two-day finishers for the Colts included senior Conner Welden with a 166, sophomore Kahle Welden with a 174, and eighth-grader Lincoln Knirk, of Quincy, who shot a 188.
The second-place finish is the highest finish ever by Hillsdale Academy Golf, and the Colts return four of five state-meet golfers next year.
