COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council approved plans on Monday night for the installation of a decorative arch over South Monroe Street to serve as an entrance feature to the block.
The cost of the proposed arch is over $52,000. Funding for the project would be drawn from General Fund reserves and added to the Fiscal Year 2023-2024 budget.
City Manager Keith Baker said the project has been discussed for about a year in light of all of the events that have taken place in recent years.
Wayne Case from Case Welding & Fabrication said it would take about a month to six weeks to construct.
Baker said in his report the poles and arch would be galvanized steel with special high gloss black paint. The sign would be double sided
with a post installed on both the east and west sides of the street within the City right of way.
He added Case Welding has offered to donate the ornamental balls at the top of the poles and the City’s logo on the top of the sign.
Being a City project, the City would waive the cost of the building permit for installing the sign.
