BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – The former Putnam Hitch property on Industrial Avenue in Bronson is about ready to come back to life.
The Bronson City Council approved a resolution on Monday night to establish a Plant Rehabilitation District after City Manager Brandon Mersman reported Branch Industrial Park, LLC has purchased the buildings at 211 and 213 Industrial Avenue.
The facility has been vacant since 2009 and Mersman says major renovations and upgrades are required for it to be usable.
The Plant Rehabilitation District is a tax incentive for manufacturers that would allow them to renovate and expand this facility.
Mersman says the incentive will allow them to freeze the current value of the building at its current value before renovations and hold that taxable value for up to 12 years.
In order to qualify, the Assessor has to determine that 50 percent or more property in the district is obsolete.
The sale agreement with Branch County Industrial Park, LLC covers a seven acre lot between the old Putnam Hitch building and Cronkhite Vault.
