COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Historic District Commission was scheduled on Wednesday to take action on a request to replace exit doors at the Coldwater Community Center at the Beech House to comply with safety codes but no action could be taken due to the lack of quorum.
The meeting has been tentatively rescheduled for Monday.
Kathy Bappert from the Community Center told H.D.C. Board members in order to open the building to the public, they need to provide two safe exits with doors that swing out.
Bappert said they will be refinishing the front two doors which face the street. They will not be considered one of the egresses.
She said in an e-mail to Planning Director Jake Van Boxel that the building has three outside doors, all of them wooden, and in various states of deterioration and aging.
