COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Crowds packed into downtown Coldwater on Saturday for the city’s annual Strawberry Fest and Craft Show which is held every June.
The event attracted over 200 vendors which was a record for the event.
City of Coldwater Community Enrichment Director Julie Santure says the large amount of vendors can be credited to a new configuration which has given everyone more room.
It was used for the first time during Apple Fest last September after there were numerous complaints about crowded conditions during the 2022 Strawberry Fest.
Vendors were located in the southwest corner of the Four Corners Park as well as in the Tibbits Plaza and along the south side of U.S. 12. More vendors were located on South Monroe and South Hanchett where vehicle traffic was not allowed.
Many non profit agencies were on hand including ASTRA members from Coldwater High School who joined together with members of the Branch County Altrusa Club to give out free books to kids on the lawn of the new Community Center. The Center, which is currently being renovated and soon to open, was also available for tours.
Strawberry Fest has been held for over three decades. The only time it was not held was in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The weather on Saturday also helped draw big crowds with sunshine and comfortable temperatures in the 70s.
