Marie “Fran” Frances Globke, 87, of Coldwater, passed away Tuesday June 20, 2023 at Masonville Place.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 29, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Coldwater, followed by interment of ashes in the St. Mark’s Church Columbarium.
Visitation will be held Thursday, June 29, prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church.
Arrangements are being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home.
Fran was born August 16, 1935, to Guedry “Butch” and Marie (Neikirk) Shelton in Detroit, MI. She married Richard “Dick” Globke, Jr. on June 4, 1955, in Detroit, MI. He preceded her in death on October 29, 2018.
Fran and her husband retired to Coldwater Lake from the Detroit area in 1978. In 1980, they came out of retirement and opened Quality Quickprint locations in both Coldwater and Fremont, IN, which they operated until their retirement in 1992. She was a member at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church and a charter member of ALTRUSA.
Fran volunteered in many capacities throughout the community including Reading for the Blind Organization, narrating books on tape and with the local Shriners. She had fulfilled a lifelong goal of writing a book which included her letters from her longtime pen pal friendship in Australia, titled Dear Fran.
Fran is survived by her son, Richard “Rik” (Cheri) Globke of Coldwater; her grandchildren, Heather Ferrell of Battle Creek, Dr. Lauren (Aaron) Collins of Portage; her grandchildren, Ryce Ferrell, Aiden Ferrell, Noah Collins, Amelia Collins, her sister-in-law, Eileen McIntyre of Redford Township and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Fran was preceded in death by her son Mark Globke.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Masonville Place for making Fran feel at home and especially during her last week.
