COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Get ready to see a lot of orange around the City of Coldwater after the Fourth of July holiday.
City Manager Keith Baker says in his report for Monday’s City Council meeting that milling and paving work is scheduled to begin on July 5 on Chestnut, Northshore, Candlewood, Arapaho, Appaloosa, Shoshoni Pass, Western Avenue, South Sprague, Sauk River Drive and West Pearl between U.S. 12 and Jay.
The work is expected to last from two to three weeks.
In addition, the Butters Avenue reconstruction project is scheduled to begin in early August. There will be detours on Jay, Garfield and Race Streets to provide access to the industrial park on Coldwater’s south side.
The projects were budgeted for the city’s 2023-24 fiscal year. The City Council approved a bid of over $532,000 from Thompson Construction in April for the local street milling and overlay project.
The project funds will be allocated from the City’s Act 51 Major Street Fund.
Reith-Riley of Goshen, Indiana will be performing the work on Butters Avenue after the Council approved their bid of over $521,000. Funds will be budgeted from the City’s American Rescue Plan Act allocation.
