COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A woman who entered a guilty plea to a charge of breaking and entering a building with intent was ordered to serve between 18 months and 10 years in the Michigan Department of Corrections on Monday in Branch County Circuit Court.
25-year-old Elaine Alexis Clark was given credit for 138 days already spent in jail. On line court documents indicate the crime took place last Christmas Day.
In exchange for Clark’s guilty plea to the amended charge that was filed on May 15, prosecutors dismissed the original charge of first degree home invasion.
Clark was placed on probation for two years in November of 2020 after she admitted her guilt to two counts of assault, resisting and obstructing police that were filed in connection with an incident in May of that year.
In exchange for her pleas at that time, three armed robbery charges in another case that were filed in connection with an incident at a Coldwater apartment in June of 2020 were dismissed by prosecutors.
