Larry Andrew Hudson, 77, of Coldwater passed away Sunday, June 11, 2023 at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 8, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Deacon John Wielgos from St. Mary of Assumption Church officiating. Interment of ashes will be at Oak Grove Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday, July 8 prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the Dutcher Funeral Home.
Larry was born October 17, 1945 in Coldwater, MI to Stephen & Stephanie (Sobeski) Hudson. He graduated from St. Charles School in Coldwater and served in the US Navy on the boat “Independence” stationed in Norfolk, VA from November 18, 1965 – March 21, 1968.
Mr. Hudson worked several years at Federal Mogul and in the early 80’s moved to Florida, where he owned and operated a photo printing franchise. He returned to Coldwater in 1988, working for Taylor’s Stationers and Eagle Printing.
Larry was born and raised Catholic, attending various churches throughout his life. He liked to bowl, play golf and was an avid Detroit Lions and Tigers fan. Larry enjoyed spending time at his family’s cottage on Rose Lake and always enjoyed a good chocolate shake. He took great pride in his family and was a devoted caregiver to his brother, while at home with Hospice.
Larry is survived by his siblings Margaret (William) Davis of Milan, Gerald Hudson of Coldwater; his nieces and nephews Jennifer (Carl) Moore of Boyceville, WI, Andrea (Gene) Ritter of Dunkirk, IN, Michelle Hartmann of Milan, Melissa Davis of Traverse City, Marc Davis of Milan, Marcene (Rick) Tyree of Franklin, IN; 7 great nieces, 7 great nephews and his former wife Margaret (McShane) Slater.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Richard Hudson; his niece Amy Murdock and sister-in-law, (Gerald’s wife) Linda (Temples) Hudson.
Memorials may be directed to St. Mary’s Assumption Church or School in Bronson, the Coldwater American Legion Post #52 or Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo.
