Lawrence F. Herman, 80, of Coldwater, passed away Monday, July 3, 2023 at his home in Coldwater.
In accordance to his wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
Larry was born July 7, 1942, to Chasley and Gertrude (Philbrick) Herman in Coldwater, MI. Larry graduated from St. Charles Catholic High School in 1961. He honorably served in the United States National Guard. After serving his country, he graduated from trade school as a pipe fitter, then worked as a pipe fitter for 12 years. Larry gained employment for Kellogg’s in Battle Creek, MI until his retirement in 1999.
December 14, 1968, Larry married Dorothy Heath at St. Charles Catholic Church in Coldwater, MI and she survives.
Larry was a dedicated member of the Coldwater Moose, American Legion, Eagles, and the Polish National Alliance as well as the Grain Millers Union, both of Battle Creek, MI. Larry was an avid mushroom hunter and always looked forward to pontoon rides at the lake.
He was an incredibly talented cook and enjoyed making homemade wine and apple pies that he loved sharing the fruits of his labor with family and friends. Larry took and passed on the family tradition of making polish sausage, but what he loved more than anything else was spending time with his family and friends. He was a strong, influential patriarch to three generations of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife Dorothy, Larry is survived by his children Curtis (Tess) Herman of Bronson, Philip (Alicia) Herman of Portage, MI, daughter-in-law Misti Herman of Jonesville; his siblings Rose Marie Johnson of Coldwater, Suzanne (Larry) Colvin of Union City; his grandchildren Jessica (Juan) Rodriguez, Kevin (Makenzie) Herman, Lucas Herman, Spencer Herman, Caitlyn Herman, Cody Herman; great grandchildren Neveah Rodriguez, Nala Rodriguez, Novalee Rodriguez and his loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Tim Herman, his sister Lucille Batterson and his brother Norris Herman.
