COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Michigan Gas Utilities has received the go ahead for construction of a 20 mile long replacement natural gas pipeline from Marshall to Coldwater.
The Michigan Public Service Commission approved a settlement agreement to replace an aging 10-inch MGU pipeline with the new 12-inch line.
In making the ruling, the MPSC said “by replacing the existing 10-inch pipeline with the 12-inch pipeline, MGU has the ability to reliably meet its residential and commercial customers’ future growth needs in and around Branch, Calhoun, St. Joseph, Hillsdale, and Lenawee Counties.”
The existing pipeline in Branch and Calhoun was built in 1952.
The MPSC also said construction will have no significant adverse impact on the environment.
