Maryetta Patton, 104, of Coldwater entered the presence of her Lord, Saturday, July 22, 2023 at her home in Coldwater.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, July 27, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor Daniel Harrison officiating. Interment will follow the service at Eel River Cemetery in Churubusco, IN at 2:30 p.m..
The family will receive friends for visitation Thursday, July 27, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
Maryetta was born August 4, 1918 to Ray and Grace (Parsons) Hyland in Amlin, OH. She married James Geese Sr. September 5, 1936 and he preceded her in death on November 24, 1965.
She married William P. Patton at the Tri-Lakes Baptist Church on January 26, 1968. They enjoyed the time they had together. They loved spending time in Florida before moving back to Churubusco, IN where following William’s passing, Maryetta then moved to Coldwater, MI.
Maryetta enjoyed doing counted cross-stitch pictures, gardening, flowers, reading the bible along with other books and later audio books as well. She was a housewife most of her life and served her Lord faithfully by teaching Sunday School, VBS, Clerk, and prayer partner in Indiana and Florida. After moving to Michigan, she became a member of the First Baptist Church in Coldwater.
Maryetta is survived by her daughters Cora (Charles) Foupht of Coldwater, MI, Mary Lou Hamilton of Hilliard, OH, her son James M. Geese Jr. of Ft. Wayne, IN; her step-children Betty (Ed) Witzenman, Peggy (Robert) Wetzel both of Churubusco, IN, William Patton of Thousand Oaks, CA; her 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and many great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her husbands James Geese Sr. and William P. Patton, she was preceded in death by her parents Ray & Grace Hyland, her daughter and her husband Arlene (Verl) Anderson, her son John R. Geese, son-in-law Robert Thomas, her grandson Scott Thomas, great grandson Ian Geese, her great-great granddaughter Mackenzie Geese, and her sisters Marjorie Fulk and Mona and her husband Earl Pinney.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gideons International or to First Baptist Church in Coldwater.
