HILLSDALE COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Two persons were injured Monday afternoon in a Hillsdale County crash.
The Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened at 3:45 p.m. on West Reading Road near Gilmore Road.
They say their investigation showed that a Ford Explorer driven by 79-year-old Robert Hites Junior of Hillsdale was traveling west on West Reading Road when it rear-ended Menno Lengacher who was hauling a hay rake with a horse.
Hites then went off the road and into a tree.
Lengacher and Hites were taken to Hillsdale Hospital for treatment of their injuries.
The Sheriff’s Department is still investigating but they report traveling at an unsafe distance and speed were believed to be the factors in the crash.
They were assisted by the Jefferson Township Fire Department, Hudson Emergency Unit, Reading Emergency Unit as well as Affordable Towing.
