ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – St. Joseph County Undersheriff Jason Bingaman reported on Tuesday that a body believed to be that of Marilee Furlong has been found in a wooded area off Miller Road in Cass County.
The discovery was made Monday night at about 7:30 p.m. by Search and Rescue personnel along with Christian Aid Ministries
Bingaman says Furlong’s family has been notified.
The 73-year-old Furlong went missing on May 29 from her daughter’s home on Flatbush Road.
She had dementia and was entered as a missing person with searches beginning the same day. Those searches have continued throughout the investigation, which included hundreds of emergency service and volunteer personnel.
The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release that they would like to thank everyone who helped with this investigation.
Bingaman said, “while this is an unfortunate outcome for the family, hopefully locating their loved one can allow for some closure”.
A confirmation on the identity of the body is pending from the Medical Examiner’s Office.
