BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget reported on Thursday that Branch County’s unemployment rate went up to four-point-three percent during the month of June as not seasonally adjusted unemployment rates increased in 13 of Michigan’s 17 labor market areas.
Branch County’s unemployment rate went up for the second straight month after it had been at four percent in May.
Labor Market Information Director for the Michigan Center for Data and Analytics Wayne Rourke says, ““Most Michigan regional jobless rates saw typical June increases. June nonfarm employment increased across the state.”
The data showed 48 Michigan counties exhibited jobless rate increases between May and June while 26 counties displayed rate decreases over the month, and nine county unemployment rates were unchanged.
Unemployment rates in St. Joseph and Hillsdale County went up to four-point-seven percent in June while it was four-point-nine percent in Calhoun County.
Michigan’s June unemployment rate in June dropped to three-point-six percent.
Unemployment rates around Michigan in May ranged from two-point-eight percent in Livingston County to eight-point-one percent in Ontonagon County.
