COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Board of Public Utilities recently approved a bid of over $2,300 from Donay’s On Time Services for the state mandated replacement of galvanized water service lines that are hooked into lead service.
There are about 300 homes that require the lines be replaced and Water and Sewer Manager Bryan Massey says Donay’s will complete as many as they can for the budgeted amount this fiscal year.
In accordance with the Lead and Copper Rule set forth by the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy, water utility providers are required to replace any galvanized water service line that is, or has previously been, hooked to a lead service.
An amount of $50,000 a year was budgeted into the Water Department’s Capital Plan for this work.
